Procedures for Opting Out of a Life Lesson
We, as administrators and teachers, believe that the Life Curriculum will greatly benefit your son or daughter, teaching them God’s desire for healthy relationships. However, we understand that you, as parents, may have reasons for wanting your son or daughter to not participate in a particular Life Lesson. If that should be the case, we ask that you follow the procedure below to remove your child from that session.
- Submit a written request to Judah’s CAO (Mr. Cole) or your child’s principal (Mrs. Harris or Mrs. Neaveill) by the Thursday prior to the lesson you desire your child to not participate in. The administrators will pass your request on to Mrs. Clark.
You can find the curriculum outline for your student’s grade by going to the parent’s web link on RenWeb and clicking on “Teacher’s Web Page” beside Life Curriculum. In order for your student to opt out of a Life Lesson, we request that you clearly tell us your specific objections as to why you do not want your son/daughter to participate.
- For junior high and high school students: Mrs. Clark will create an assignment on a related topic. Ideally, that assignment can be given to the student the Thursday prior to the opt-out lesson. If so, it may include requests for you and your child to discuss a particular topic related to the curriculum.
The day of the opt-out lesson, the student will first check with Mrs. Clark for the day’s assignment (if not received the Thursday before) and then go to the library to complete the assignment. The assignment will be due to Mrs. Clark at the end of the class period.
- For elementary students: The student will be sent to the library, a study hall, or an administrator’s office.
Parents are welcome to email Mrs. Clark with questions about the curriculum.
