An Introduction to the Life Curriculum
In the Spring of 2005, a very sensitive issue from an incident in an elementary classroom was brought to Mr. Cole’s attention. The issue was very satisfactorily resolved by all involved and Mr. Cole then discussed it with the Parent-Advisory Council (PAC). PAC decided to create a committee to study how Judah should address God’s intent for boys and girls to relate with one another now and in the future. As a result, the Life Committee was formed.
After much research and discussion, the Life Committee recommended that a K-12 curriculum on healthy sexuality and relationships be developed.
In the spring of 2007, the Judah School Board and Judah Christian School administrators approved the recommendation and hired Pat Clark to begin the curriculum development process. Since then, Pat has met with youth pastors, parents, students from churches in the community, professionals, and Judah administrators and staff to outline a curriculum that might best meet the needs of Judah’s students.
The purpose of the Life curriculum is to give students the knowledge and skills to build positive relationships and develop a healthy sexuality that honors God. The four areas of the curriculum are:
- Understanding what God’s Word says about sexuality and relationships
- Growth and development
- Personal integrity
- Relationship skills
The curriculum will be broken into four age groups:
- Grades K-3: Growing

- Grades 4-6: Changes and Challenges
- Grades 7-8: Relating, Dating, and Waiting
- Grades 9-12: Pursuing Purity
A topical outline for each grade level will be posted on this website when it is developed.
Pat Clark and Rick Williams will teach the Life Lessons during Bible class to 8th graders first semester and 7th graders second semester.
In mid-November 2007, Pat and Dan Cole will begin meeting with 6th graders. In late fall 2007, Pat and Happy Davis will begin teaching 9th graders during Bible class. The remaining high school classes may receive instruction later in the school year.
Fifth graders may receive instruction next spring 2008; the remaining elementary classes will not receive instruction this school year.
Parents will be invited to an introductory meeting about the curriculum prior to it being taught in the classroom.
